F.A.Q.

question mark

(Photography shoot) For video, see below.

Do you have a studio?
I have a beautiful and convenient city-centre studio I can book sessions in. It’s not my own studio but it’s a safe, clean and well-maintained professional studio. It’s advised that if you need a studio shoot, you contact me at the earliest possible time so I can book a slot. Also, booking a studio will come at an additional cost.

What is your style of photography?
I love naturalistic, tasteful but punchy photos. I try not to go for very trendy looks as those types of photos tend to date quickly. Also, if I give you a high-quality, natural look, you can always add your own filter later. Having said that, if there is a particular look or style that inspires you, we can discuss that in the project discussion phase.

What should I wear to a photoshoot?
A change of clothes is always important to get the most from your shoot; change of top, shirt, hoody or jacket. Try not to wear anything with strong patterns or big logos. Keeping a nice simple colour palette of 2-3 colours is nice. Simple design and colours can be helpful when shooting with different backdrops, especially outdoors where we may use a garage door or a nice old wall as a backdrop. Of course, if there is something specific you really want and you think it might be a bit more out there, let me know, perhaps send me a photo and we can plan ahead. Most of all, try to be comfortable!

Do you deliver every image?
No, I don’t. I’ll take many photos on the day, and depending on the shoot it could be from 500 photos to 2000 photos. Many photos will be duplicates, test photos, missed focused photos, and photos with blinking or perhaps in between facial expressions. My mission is to take as many as possible so as not to miss small moments. That means many won’t work out as there are so many variables at play; camera settings, lighting, background movement, facial expressions etc. What I can do is eliminate the unusable photos and give you access to see all the usable ones. Then you can pick and choose your favourite images from the bunch. This gives control back to you.

Do you touch up or process images?
Yes. I use standard methods of enhancing the final image. Retouching is a vital part of any photographer’s workflow. There are different levels of retouching. Every photo selected as a part of the service gets a standard touch-up; increased contrast, changing brightness levels and making sure the photo is very presentable. For more advanced retouching like skin retouching, wrinkle removal, I can arrange that for a fee. Some special requests for retouching like a pimple or small mole can be simply removed and I would not charge for that. Just ask me, I treat it on a case by case basis.

What equipment do you use?
a. I use professional cameras and lenses to sure the best quality images.

F.A.Q. (Video shoot)

videographer photo

I want to make a music video, how do I start?
I can discuss with you inspirations your ideas first. We can do this face to face or on the phone or by email. Email is preferable to me as we can both keep track of our progress and easily search back on ideas we agreed. We can then develop an idea and implement a plan to shoot it.

How long does it take to shoot a music video?
It depends on how long the song is, the concept of the video, amount of locations and the weather. Typically a video shoot can be shot over 1-2 days and a further 3 full days for editing.

How long does it take to shoot a short 1min promotional video for my business/artists page/band promo?
Again, it depends on how many locations there are and what’s involved in the shoot. But typically 1min promo or 30-second advert can be shot in a day or less. Editing for a 1-minute video would talk usually 1 full day or less.

I have an editor already. Can you still shoot the video for me?
Absolutely. This can be arranged.

Do you provide video editing services?
Yes, I can edit the video as well. Depending on the length of the video, will depend on the time it takes to edit it.

Can you add special effects?
I try to shoot more simplistic and naturalistic scenes and don’t do post-production special effects. I try to capture in-camera any special tricks we might be able to perform on the day. In post-production, I will do some standard colour-correction and can add some colour-grading for stylistic effect.
